Chicken Nugget Growth Update

I can’t believe it’s been another 3 weeks since I last updated with pictures of the Nuggets.  Though I suppose we have been a bit busy and distracted…and truth be told, there isn’t a whole lot of rapid growth now like before.

A Child…is Charity

It’s been a sad sad time here for us…and it’s taken me a while to get up the courage to write about it.  It breaks my heart to tell everyone that we lost one of the Chicken Nuggets earlier this week.  Little Charity (the baby black) died Tuesday morning.

Responsibility and Stewardship

There have been quite a few talks about responsibility and stewardship around here lately.  Mostly in regard to taking care of the chickens.  They’ve been out of the cute little fluffy stage for a little bit now and are well into the “teen” stage.  My kidlets are beginning to realize that having these chickens means more work and responsibility for all of us…which isn’t completely a bad thing.

I introduced our newest additions in an earlier post.  They’ve grown so much in the couple of weeks that we’ve had them…and thankfully we haven’t lost any of them.  The kidlets are loving every minute of it…well almost every minute.  It turns out I’m allergic to the pine bedding we’re using in the brooder.  There’s not much I can do about it except take allergy stuff.  I know…I know.  You’re thinking we should just get different bedding, right?  That does seem like a simple solution…except we bought a big block of the stuff and I’m loathe to waste it.  Taking allergy stuff and cleaning out the brooder daily helps.  That’s the part CareBear and GadgetJunior aren’t too thrilled about because they get to do the cleaning.  Little do they know how much more work cleaning out the coop is going to be!
