For those who don’t know Bolt is an animated movie about a dog who thinks he has super powers. He plays a super dog in a television series trying to help his “person”, Penny (Miley Cyrus), save her father from the evil Dr. Calico. The show’s director decided that in order to make the dog’s acting more believable, Bolt (John Travolta) must not be let off the lot or out of his trailor. He was to believe the pretend was real. That plan seemed to work well….as long as Penny came “home” with him at the end of each day. But I’m sure you can imagine what kind of trouble this might cause if Penny didn’t. What do you think would happen if she were captured by Dr. Calico…and then the show “continued”? Bolt would naturally want to go rescue her, right? That’s where the movie takes off.
Bolt teams up with an alley cat, Mittens (Susie Essman), and a brave hamster, Rhino (Mark Walton). Together they learn about friendship, loyalty and courage…all that makes a true hero. I enjoyed this movie and thought it was a lot of fun. Even DoubleD liked it…and he’s hard to please at this age.
